Intercede International pledges to observe strict confidentiality to protect the privacy of its donors, those on it’s mailing list, the receivers of its charitable aid and its agents and employees. Because of its mission publications, volunteer, mission service teams and church event activities, and the support received through charitable donations, Intercede International gathers personal information in order to conduct such activities. This information is carefully protected at Intercede International.
The definition of “personal information” is information about an identifiable individual as defined in applicable Canadian (including federal, provincial and territorial) privacy legislation.
In general, personal information is any information that can be used to distinguish, contact or identify a certain individual. The information may include an individual’s opinions or beliefs, as well as facts about or related to the person. Exceptions usually not considered personal information are business contact information and certain publicly available information, such as names, addresses and telephone numbers published in telephone directories.
Intercede International gathers personal information such as name, address, and other personal contact biographical information, credit card or bank account information for donor recording, information and tracking purposes. The information is gathered in order to properly serve the donor’s needs to be informed and the Mission’s legal and management requirement to be properly informed about its constituents.
This personal information is kept in confidence by Intercede International. All of the staff and board of Intercede International are each only permitted to know what their job description entails them the need to know for the purpose for which it was obtained. Staff and Board must sign in writing as a condition of employment or service, to observe this strict pledge of confidentiality. Safeguards are in place to ensure that personal information is not disclosed or shared more widely than is necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was collected.
Personal information is collected, used and disclosed only for Intercede International internal purposes. This personal information is not sold or rented or given to other organizations or persons outside of the organization for any reason whatsoever.
