You can begin experiencing the joy of sponsorship right away. Your gift is combined with other sponsorship gifts and sent to the field headquarters of the indigenous mission. Drawing on these resources, local missionary leaders distribute support according to their needs and circumstances. You may choose to send your sponsorship gift monthly, quarterly or annually.
Sponsorship funds are given to the mission group from which the child or missionary receives his or her support. Usually, all share from the funds received. The faithful contribution of each sponsor coupled with God's provision through indigenous sources enables basic needs to be met.
Corresponding . . .
Some sponsors would like to get letters directly from the one(s) they support. Such communications are very difficult and expensive to obtain. Many of those who receive support do not know English. Translation and other costs of correspondence use precious funds needed by the individual to meet other needs.
In sending help to needy ones, Intercede International seeks to keep low overhead costs and relationships with indigenous leadership on a good footing. Therefore we ask that you do not attempt to write to your individual or seek a personal letter from him or her.
We send all information concerning the group and individuals that is available, and we will keep you posted of any changes or new information.
Special gifts . . .
If you wish to send something extra for Christmas or other times, the funds will be forwarded to the leaders of those missions, so that an appropriate gift may be purchased. Please DO NOT send parcels because shipping costs and customs duty will exceed their value. In many countries, such parcels would be stolen long before they reached their destination.
For specific information on each program please see the appropriate section below:
Indigenous Christian groups are caring for many destitute and needy children in orphanages, boarding schools, and private homes. When you send your first gift of $30 or more, a child is selected for you from the area of your preference. You will then receive a photo as a prayer reminder, a brief biography, and details of the group that is caring for your child. Annual reports on your individual child and updated field reports of the group will be forwarded to you as often as they are received by Intercede International.
When you send your first gift of $50-$100 or more, a missionary is selected for you from the area of your preference. You will then receive a photo as a prayer reminder, a brief biography, and details of the group with which your missionary serves. Annual reports on your individual missionary and updated field reports of the mission will be forwarded to you as often as they are received by Intercede. Your missionary does not work for Intercede. Missionaries may never know who their sponsor is until they are with the Lord, so you will not receive mail directly.
Many students in Canada rely on scholarships and other means to help them obtain their post-secondary schooling. Most students that attend indigenous Bible schools have no financial help available. This is your opportunity to provide this much needed help. When you send your first gift of $40 or more, a school is selected for you from the area of your preference. You will then receive information about the Bible School your scholarship money will go to. Updated field reports of the group will be forwarded to you as often as they are received. An exception is for countries where persecution or the school is underground, in such cases no direct detail information can be made public but your gift will be put to work supporting students studying the Bible and preparing to be Christian ministers of the Gospel.
